2012 has started well for MCC!
Not only do we have a great season including the BCF league (3rd division) and some nice friendlies planned, we also have a young squad that is eager to get their hands dirty and play some serious cricket this year. MCC can’t wait for the summer!
From now on till mid-September; MCC will be training every Wednesday night on the club’s ground in Hombeek, Mechelen.
All members and people interested to join are more than welcome!

It’s been a bit quiet here, but expect more updates in the 2012 season.
To start it’s great to announce that MCC will again be playing league matches in 2012.
The MCC eleven will be participating in the BCF 3rd division and we will of course be playing several nice and social friendly games during the upcoming summer.
Please take a look at the club calendar for the most up to date information and the exact dates of the fixtures!
MCC is glad to announce that after two years of not having indoor practice in between seasons, now again you can join us for some training during the winter!
Even better, we are actually training together with the newly found and very friendly guys from Leuven Cricket Club (LCC)! Thanks to the efforts of LCC, we can all profit from training together. We hope this is a start of a long friendly cooperation between our two clubs.
In detail; MCC/LCC are training every Sunday from 15h till 17h, starting now!
At the indoor hall of the sports faculty of the University of Leuven, which is located behind the outdoor athletics track. Here is the address:
Universitair sportcentrum - Gebouw De Nayer ( 1ste verdieping)
Tervuursevest 101 (bus 1502)
3001 Heverlee
But there are some important rules for participating!
- You will need to buy a “day sport pass” to use the university’s sport facilities (can be bought on the spot – to the right at the entrance – at a machine for the price of 2 euros)
- Please wear non-marking sport/training shoes
- Only use tennis balls for now (we are investigating the use of indoor cricket balls)
- Respect decisions from our LCC-friends, remember they are organizing these sessions and we are allowed to join!
- Bring your best mood and act in spirit of the game!
- Be sure to have a drink with us after training
If needed or in emergency, you can always contact Imran from LCC (0486-787378)
We hope to see you all there next Sunday!
One of the most important days in the year for our club comes at the tail of the season; Ossie day!
Some clubs have a “club day” but we have Ossie day; a special day on our ground in Hombeek where we celebrate our club’s rich history and especially the most important figure in it : the late Oswald Van Moer, founder of MCC.
We do this by, of course, playing cricket!
But also by enjoying the more social aspects of the sport we all love to play!
This year the program for Ossie day is the following:
- It will be an intra-club event; but of course ex-MCC members and other players that have a connection with our club are more than welcome!
- We will meet around 2pm and will play 6 or 8 a side short games, depending on how many players turn up.
- If we are enough people; we can play a single or double wicket tournament, where each player or each pair gets 3 overs to bat and score as many as possible. Getting out would mean negative runs etc.
- Tipu is interested in having some food prepared so no one will leave hungry!
MCC is hoping for a big turn out in what is going to be a great day!
On the 17th of April we finally prepared our home ground in Hombeek close to Mechelen for the upcoming cricket season of 2010. This means we put down the mat that has been in storage all winter while we also flatten and redo the underground of our pitch. Not only did we make our pitch ready for play, also our clubhouse and all club equipment (new training balls, protective gear and stumps) have been taken care of after winter hibernation!
Now that our ground and clubhouse are ready for another great summer full of cricket, we can start training outdoors again every Wednesday evening.
We hope to see a lot of members there, but also other people interested in discovering cricket or joining our club!

A new decade means a fresh start!
And that’s exactly what’s MCC is going through now. One of the many things that will be new or slightly different coming season is our website.
Hang in tight, since a lot more work is needed on the website and things might not go exactly as they are supposed to. But in the meantime, have a look at the club calendar for 2010, which is constantly updated to show you the fixtures for coming season!
